Like I said, I don't know if this information is true, but if it is then that's my theory for now. But if it is, that might be why they look so different their character designs may have been finalized before it was decided that they'd be brothers. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I heard that from, so I can't confirm if it's from a reliable source. I read somewhere that Scar was originally not going to be related to Mufasa, but they got the idea of them being brothers a while into preproduction, to make the storyline more intense.
